Fertile-Beltrami vs. Kittson County Central

Thief River Falls, MN — The Kittson County Central Bearcats beat the Fertile-Beltrami Falcons 67-51 in the Section 8A Boys Basketball Semifinals. KCC played as close to a complete game as a team could Wednesday night. They trailed for only a short time during the first 10 points of the game, were lethal from the outside, out rebounded Fertile-Beltrami by a wide margin, and got a stellar performance from one of their Senior leaders Ty Vig.

In the first half Kittson County Central hardly missed from the floor. The Bearcats knocked down seven first half 3-pointers and when they did miss, KCC was there for the offensive rebound as the Bearcats won the rebounding battle in the first half 16-8 and took a 32-21 lead into halftime.

In half number two, Kittson County Central continued their stellar play taking their largest lead of the game, 19 points, 49-30 with ten minutes to play. For the next six minutes, Fertile-Beltrami desperately tried to crawl their way back into the game and they made things interesting cutting the deficit to 11 points with four minutes to play 59-48.  Fetile-Beltrami couldn’t buy a bucket in the final four minutes of the game as they would score only three points the rest of the way, despite getting good looks from behind the arc. Kittson County Central would win the game 67-51.

With the win, Kittson County Central will take on the Red Lake County Rebels Friday night for the Section 8A Boys Basketball Championship.
