Minneapolis, MN — In the State 9-Man Football Semi-Final game from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, the Spring Grove Lions defeated the Fertile-Beltrami Falcons 27-6 to advance to Prep Bowl 40.

Spring Grove received the opening kickoff that was followed by an opening possession punt. Fertile-Beltrami would then march down the field on a just over six-minute 83 yard touchdown drive. The touchdown was a 19 yard pass from Caiden Swenby to Ryan Van Den Einde. That score however, would be the only one of the game for the Falcons. Spring Grove would score on their ensuing possession on a 19 yard rushing TD from Quarterback Eli Solum. The Lions would force a punt on the Falcons next possession and Senior Tysen Grinde would take it 75 yards to the house.

Fertile-Beltrami would have their chances throughout the afternoon but could never come up with the much needed big play. They would punt a total of five times throughout the game and turn the ball over downs twice. Both defenses were stout to begin the second half but it was Spring Grove coming up with the only two second half scores which is what sealed their victory 27-6.

Spring Grove will now play in Prep Bowl 40 against Mountain Iron-Buhl who beat Wheaton/Herman Norcross 36-15.
