VB Fosston at Bagley

The Fosston Greyhounds trailed 14-12 in the fifth set but scored the final four points and defeated the Bagley Flyers 3-2 before a big crowd at the Bagley Gym. It was the third match this week in which Bagley went five sets with 3-2 wins earlier in the week at Red Lake County Central and at Win-E-Mac. Lexi Mahlen recorded 27 kills for Fosston as the Greyhounds improve to 7-7 overall and 3-3 in the Pine to Prairie Conference. Sofia Rue added 8 kills and Ava Hayes 7 kills for the Greyhounds. Ava Phrakonkham led Bagley with 24 kills as the Flyers fall to 9-10 overall and 3-3 in the conference. Kira Thompson added 13 kills and Makalyn Hoie 6 kills for Bagley. It was back and forth all night with Bagley winning the first and third sets and the Greyhounds coming out on top in sets 2,4 and 5. Bagley had two chances at match point as they led 14-12 in the fifth set but Fosston closed the match by scoring four unanswered points. Bagley only had five service errors in the match. The match lasted 2 hours and 14 minutes and kept the fans on the edge of their seats all night. Bagley won the “B” Squad match 2-1 with Fosston coming out on top in the “C” Squad match 2-0. The Greyhounds will return to action on Saturday, October 5th when they travel to Perham for the KLN Invitational. Bagley will return to the court on Tuesday, October 8th when they travel to Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal.
