Jakob Rudie scored on a 75 yard run with 7:56 left in the game and the Fosston Greyhounds stunned the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears 36-30 at Clearbrook-Gonvick. It was the second straight year that the Greyhounds knocked the Bears out of the playoffs in the semifinals of the Section 6 Nine-Man playoffs. Rudie scored on runs of 9, 34 and 75 yards and gained 238 yards on 22 carries. 196 of those yards came in the second half. Dakota Erickson scored on runs of 2 and 14 yards for Clearbrook-Gonvick as the Bears close out their season with a record of 5-4. The Bears held a 22-8 lead in the second quarter but Fosston scored on a 23 yard touchdown pass from Noah Martinson to Darien Holzer with 3:02 left in the first half to cut the Clearbrook-Gonvick lead to 22-16 at halftime. Nelson Manecke had a big game on defense for Fosston as he recovered two fumbles and had two quarterback sacks. The Greyhounds scored touchdowns after both of the Clearbrook-Gonvick turnovers. The Bears were driving late in the game but turned the ball over on downs with 36 seconds remaining. Avery Ostenaa carried the ball 20 times for 161 yards and a touchdown for the Bears while Dakota Erickson carried the ball 29 times for 145 yards and two touchdowns for Clearbrook-Gonvick. The Greyhounds will take a 7-3 record into the Section 6 Nine-Man championship game on Thursday October 30th (4:30 pm) at the Fargodome against defending Section and State Champion Fertile-Beltrami. Fertile-Beltrami advanced to the championship game with a 63-0 win over Blackduck.
