The Fosston Greyhounds held off a furious rally from the Falcons to pull off the 60-55 win at Fertile on Thursday night. The Greyhounds built a 13 point lead at 37-24 early in the second half but the Falcons answered with a 9-0 run to cut the deficit to four at 37-33. The Greyhounds would build their lead back up to ten at 48-38 but Fertile-Beltrami would get to within one point at 54-53. The Greyhounds would score the next four points to make it 58-53 and were able to hang on for the victory. The Greyhounds started five seniors and were led by Zach Theis with 23 points, including three 3 pointers. Carsen Boushee pitched in with 15 points for Fosston as the Greyhounds improve to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the Pine to Prairie Conference. Caiden Swenby led Fertile-Beltrami with 23 points as the Falcons drop to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference. Preston Hanson came off the bench to add 8 points for Fertile-Beltrami. The Greyhounds led 33-22 at halftime. Fosston won the “B” Squad game 48-47 in overtime while Fertile-Beltrami won the “C” Squad game 46-30. The Greyhounds will return to action on Thursday, January 5th when they host Crookston while the Falcons will play their next game on Tuesday, January 3rd when they travel to Bagley (96.7 FM).
