VB Fosston at Fertile-Beltrami

The Fertile-Beltrami Falcons overcame a furious rally from the Fosston Greyhounds to win 3-2 at the Fertile-Beltrami Gym. The Falcons led the match 2-0 and had a 19-10 lead in the third set but the Greyhounds closed the third set with a 12-1 run to win 25-21 and close to within 2-1 in the match. The Greyhounds won the fourth set 25-17 to force a set five. The fifth set was tied at 11-11 with Fertile-Beltrami scoring the final four points to win 15-11. Tessa Opdahl had 13 kills and Brooke Fladhammer 11 kills for Fertile-Beltrami. Mya Erickson added 6 kills and 8 service aces for Fertile-Beltrami as the Falcons end the regular season at 22-4-1 overall and 8-1 in the Pine to Prairie Conference. Lexi Mahlen led Fosston with 22 kills as the Greyhounds end the regular season at 10-13 overall and 5-4 in the conference. Hatty Quam recorded 6 kills and Tegan Duppong, Sofia Rue and Ava Hayes each had 5 kills for the Greyhounds. Taylinn Spicer had 5 service aces for Fosston. The two teams combined for 29 service aces in the match. Fertile-Beltrami won the “B” Squad match 2-1 and the Falcons also won the “C” Squad match 2-1. Both teams will play in the Section 8A Tournament next week with the bracket coming out later today (Wednesday).
