For the second time in ten nights the Fosston Greyhounds and Fertile-Beltrami Falcons played a five set match and for the second time the Falcons came out on top. This time it was for a berth in the Section 8A semifinals next Tuesday. Before a packed house in Fertile the Falcons scored the final four points of the first set to win 25-20. The Greyhounds bounced back in the second set to win 25-18 and tie the match at 1-1. The Falcons closed the third set with a 14-3 run to win 25-11 and take a 2-1 lead in the match. The Greyhounds would take a close fourth set 25-22 in a set that featured 12 ties. The fifth set was tied at 4-4 but the Falcons would end it with an 11-4 run to win the set and match. Brooke Fladhammer led Fertile-Beltrami with 12 kills as the Falcons improve to 24-4-1 overall. Madison Stueness added 11 kills and 3 service aces for Fertile-Beltrami with Tessa Opdahl pitching in with 9 kills.. Lexi Mahlen led Fosston with 20 kills as the Greyhounds end their season at 12-14. Teagan Duppong added 9 kills and Sofia Rue 7 kills for Fosston. Fertile-Beltrami will face the Kittson Central Bearcats in the Section 8A semifinals on Tuesday, October 29th at UMC in Crookston. Badger/Greenush-Middle River will play Ada-Borup-West in the early semifinal at 6:00 pm followed by Fertile-Beltrami vs. Kittson County Central.
