The East Grand Forks Sacred Heart Eagles won their 21st straight match with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-17 & 25-13) win at Fosston on Thursday night. The Eagles jumped out to a 15-1 lead in the first set and went on to win it 25-9. Sacred Heart used a 10-3 run to help them pull away to a 25-17 win in the second set. Lexi Lawrence led Sacred Heart with 10 kills as the Eagles improve to 23-1 overall. Bryn Stevens added 8 kills and Lydia Riskey 7 kills for the Eagles. Alexis Illies, Brielle Duppong and Emma Howard each had 3 kills for Fosston as the Greyhounds fall to 8-14 overall. East Grand Forks Sacred Heart has not lost a set in the last 51 they have played. The only loss for Sacred Heart came at Ada-Borup-West (3-1 on September 2nd). The Eagles had 53 service points in the match compared to 18 for the Greyhounds. Fosston will close out the regular season with matches at Thief River falls next Monday and at home against Fertile-Beltrami next Tuesday (96.7 FM). Sacred Heart will end the regular season next Tuesday when they host the Northern Freeze. Sacred Heart won the “B” Squad match 2-0 (25-19 & 25-8) while Fosston won the “C” Squad match 2-0 (25-22 & 25-13).
