Fosston at Warren-Alvarado-Oslo

Recap

Warren, MN — The Fosston Greyhounds improved to 2-0 Friday night with a controlled, aggressive 30-14 win over the Warren‑Alvarado‑Oslo Ponies, overcoming a slow start and steadily tightening their grip on the game as it progressed.

The Ponies opened with a statement drive, grinding 73 yards over nearly the entire first quarter before Sid Carlson finished it off with a 1‑yard quarterback sneak, putting WAO ahead 8-0 with 1:09 remaining. Fosston answered immediately. Starting at their own 34, the Greyhounds pieced together a strong response drive capped by Brydin Daniel’s first of three touchdowns, trimming the deficit and shifting momentum.

From there, WAO’s offense sputtered. After the efficient opening march, the Ponies struggled to sustain drives, throwing two interceptions before halftime, including a fourth‑down pick at the Fosston 9‑yard line with just 15 seconds left. Despite limited possession time (roughly seven minutes), Fosston trailed only 8-6 at the break, setting the stage for a decisive second half.

The Ponies’ offensive issues deepened after halftime. Their four second‑half possessions produced an interception, a punt, a turnover on downs, and a late touchdown with reserves after the game was already out of reach. Fosston, meanwhile, found its rhythm. The Greyhounds scored on three of four second‑half drives, highlighted by two more Brydin Daniel touchdowns, a 53-yard burst and a 3-yard plunge, plus a 23‑yard Noah Martinson strike to Jaxsen Daniel. With the defense controlling the tempo and the offense capitalizing on short fields, Fosston pulled away for the 30-14 victory.

The Greyhounds return home next Friday to host Win‑E‑Mac at Thompson Field. WAO, now 1-1, travels to Northern Freeze next week.
