Joe Courneya scored 23 points as the Win-E-Mac Patriots advanced to the Section 8A Quarterfinals with a 73-54 win over the Fosston Greyhounds on Thursday night at Win-E-Mac. It was the third win for the Patriots over the Greyhounds this season (68-55 at Fosston on December 4th and 63-54 at Win-E-Mac on February 6th). The first half featured four ties and six lead changes and the Patriots took a 32-28 lead into halftime. Hayden Johnson pitched in with 18 points with Kolten Schow added 10 points for Win-E-Mac. Jack Sekely led Fosston with 19 points as the Greyhounds end their season with an overall record of 6-19. Gavin Curfman added 12 points and Jake Howard 10 points for Fosston. There were a combined 38 fouls called in the game with Fosston shooting 8 for 17 at the line and the Patriots shooting 14 for 21 at the stripe. The Patriots will take an overall record of 12-15 into their game Saturday against defending Section champion Red Lake County (1:45 pm at Thief River Falls). Red Lake County defeated Win-E-Mac 86-46 in their only regular season meeting.
