The East Grand Forks Sacred Heart Eagles scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to defeat the Fosston Greyhounds 5-3 Saturday in the Section 8A semifinals at Bemidji State University. David Larson delivered a two out two run double to drive in Jake Setterlund and Ethan Arntson to snap a 3-3 tie. Josiah Sundby tossed a complete to pick up the win on the mound for Sacred Heart as the Eagles improve their overall record to 17-5. The Greyhounds scored first in the second inning when Markus Olson scored on a wild pitch. The Eagles tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the third when Ethan Arntson drove in Josiah Sundby with a single. Sacred Heart took a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning but the Greyhounds would take a 3-2 lead by scoring two runs in the bottom of the fifth. The Eagles tied the game with a single run in the top of the sixth inning before winning it with their two runs in the seventh inning. The Greyhounds outhit the Eagles 8-6 and fall to 18-4 overall. The defending Section 8A champion Eagles will play in the championship game on Thursday, June 8th and would have to lose twice not to make it to the State Tournament. Fosston will play in an elimination game on Tuesday, June 6th at 2:00 pm against the winner of the Ada-Borup-West vs. West Marshall game at 11:00 am. The Greyhounds had defeated Sacred Heart 7-6 in their one regular season meeting.
