Fosston vs. Lyle/Pacelli
Recap
Fosston vs. Lyle/Pacelli
The Fosston Greyhounds held off a late charge from the Lyle/Pacelli Athletics to win 3-2 and claim their first ever state championship in baseball. The Greyhounds led 3-1 heading into the top of the seventh inning when the Athletics loaded the bases with nobody out. Lyle/Pacelli was able to score one run but Carsen Boushee was able to get Isaac Nelson to groundout to first baseman Brecken Levin to end the threat and end the game. Levin was two for three at the plate and scored two runs for Fosston as the Greyhounds end their season with an overall record of 24-4. Aaron Norland drove in Ryne Duppong with what turned out to be the game winning run with a two out double in the bottom of the sixth inning. It was the first state championship for a team from Section 8A since the Crookston Pirates won the state title in 1995. KKCQ (96.7 FM) is planning to rebroadcast the State Championship game on Monday, June 19th at 6:05 pm.
