Goodridge/Grygla at Clearbrook-Gonvick

Clearbrook, MN — The Goodridge/Grygla Chargers beat the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears 61-34 Friday night.

The Chargers, who were without their star player in Shay Jacobson, still managed to beat the Bears by nearly 30 points thanks to their scrappy play and their tenacity on the glass, out rebounding the Bears 41-23. Offensively the Chargers put together a 17-0 first half run that propelled them to a double digit halftime lead.

In the second half, Clearbrook-Gonvick struggled offensively scoring just 13 points. The Chargers defense was to thank for that impressive stat and maybe the Bears thrilling win versus the Roseau Rams, a four point thriller just the night prior, was a contributor to tired legs in the second half. With 12 minutes left to play, the Chargers would put the game away for good going on a 19-0 run and winning the game 61-34.

Goodridge/Grygla improves to 4-6 on the season and will play at Roseau on Monday. Clearbrook-Gonvick falls to 4-6 and will host the #2 ranked Red Lake County Rebels next Tuesday.
