Recap

Fertile, MN –– Goodridge/Grygla puts up a statement win and improves to 2-0 on the season as they showed how good they are on both sides of the ball.

Both sides started off slow thanks to great defensive play. Goodridge/Grygla was able to strike first after a 50 yard drive was capped off by a 4 yard Shay Jacobson rushing TD with a little over 3 minutes to go in the 1st quarter to make it 6-0.

The Chargers were able to get a stop and a short punt set them up with great field position and were able to take advantage after scoring on a Landon Nordby to Gus Jones connection for the 7 yard passing touchdown to make it 12-0 just 6 seconds in to the 2nd quarter.

The Chargers made it 3 drives in a row with score after it was the same connection of Nordby to Jones, this time in a toe tap fashion for the 4 yard touchdown to make it 18-0 with 5:20 left in the half.

Fertile-Beltrami didn’t get their first first down until their final drive of the half, but they got a couple of them and they capped off the drive with a 30 yard passing touchdown from Braxton Paul to Adam Kobetsky and after the 2 point conversion it was 18-8 with 45 seconds left in the half.

With limited time, a two score lead, and getting the ball to start the half, you would think the Chargers would be happy just running the clock and going into the half right? Wrong. They needed just 32 seconds to get back into the endzone on the 4 play drive. The big highlight was a 34 yard diving catch by Jacobson in which he also drew a pass interference penalty. Jacobson was then able to punch it in the endzone on a 9 yard rush on the very next play. With the two point conversion it made it a 26-8 score at the half.

The second half featured a lot of running and limited possesions. Fertile-Beltrami was able to put the first points up on the board in the second half thanks to a 4 yard touchdown run from Kobetsky with just under 2 minutes in the 3rd to make it 26-14.

The Chargers again had a response and chewed a ton of clock in the process and eventually Evan Robischko punched it in from the 1 yard line to make it 32-14.

Goodridge/Grygla improves to 2-0 on the season and will be back at home next Friday against Stephen-Argyle.

Fertile-Beltrami falls to 1-1 and will be back at home against Underwood next Friday for their homecoming game.
