Goodridge/Grygla vs. Fertile-Beltrami

Moorhead, MN — The Fertile-Beltrami Falcons defeated the Goodridge/Grygla Chargers on Thursday night of the MN State 9-Man Football Quarterfinals 35-6.

The Falcons wasted no time putting points on the board as their very first play of the game was a 91 yard rushing touchdown from Isaiah Wright, who rushed for over 200 yards and had a 60 yard rushing TD as well. The Falcons jumped out to a quick 12-0 lead until the offense sputtered with a lost fumble, turnover on downs and Caiden Swenby’s first interception of the season. Despite the opportunities the Chargers never garnered much on offense as the passing game was nearly non existent thanks to the Falcons stifling coverage and the ground game lacked as well with an injury to lead back Lewis Jones who was playing on a hobbled ankle.

A 12-0 score at halftime kept Goodridge/Grygla in the game but it was the same story in the second half with the lack of offense and the smothering Fertile-Beltrami defense. The Falcons would go on to win the game 35-6 and will play at U.S. Bank Stadium in the State 9-Man Semi-Final round versus Kingsland next Thursday at 10:30 a.m.
