The Hillsboro/Central Valley Burros withstood a Grafton Spoiler rally to win 28-20 on the Burros’ Senior Night. The Burros would score in the first quarter for the first time all season as they scored on their first three drives of the game to make it 21-0 with nine minutes remaining in the first half. The Spoilers then increased the intensity and took advantage of a Burro turnover for a pair of passing Touchdowns from Kyler Droog (3-yards to Reggie Rice, 11-yards to Ryan Hanson) to bring the halftime score to 21-14. After halftime the third quarter was nearly scoreless until Tony Villarreal intercepted a pass and returned it for a Touchdown in the final second of the third quarter and the Spoilers were able to recover a Burro fumble on the ensuing kickoff to give them the ball down 21-20 to start the fourth quarter. The Burro defense rose to the challenge to force a turnover on down to get the ball back. While the Burro offense was unable to move the ball on the next possession, James Fortman unleashed a 58-yard punt that flipped field position to put the Spoilers back into their own territory. Again the Burro defense forced the Spoilers to punt the ball back but this time the Burro offense moved the ball as the run game ground out the yards and the clock in the second half. Landon Olson would eventually break loose for a 32-yard touchdown run to make the score 28-20 with 2:44 remaining in the game. James Fortman would intercept a deflected pass on the following Spoiler offensive drive and the Burros run game ran out the remainder of the clock for the win.

Hillsboro/Central Valley ends their three game losing streak and improves to 3-5 overall and will have an independent scheduled game next week versus Oak Grove. Grafton now has lost five straight and falls to 2-6 overall, they will finish the regular season next week at home versus Rugby.
