Thompson 3, Grand Forks Central 0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-18)

Thompson’s volleyball team took on a Class AA team Thursday night and came away with a 3 set sweep over Grand Forks Central in Thompson.

Kloey Huebner had 6 kills in the opening set, which Thompson won 25-19.

Thompson sprinted to an early lead in set 2, until Central’s Jacie Reardon had 4 consecutive kills to pull the Knights within 20-19.  But the Tommies held on to a 25-22 win to go up 2-0.

In set 3, senior Abby Olson had 6 kills as Thompson finished off the match, 25-18.

Thompson (2-0) finished with 43 kills, 4 blocks, 3 aces and 4 service errors.  Senior Danica Gross had 10 kills, one solo block and 2 block assists for the Tommies.  Olson and Andie Schwab had 8 kills apiece, with Huebner adding 7 kills, a block assist and an ace.

Grand Forks Central (0-2) had 31 kills, one block, 8 aces and 4 service errors.  Reardon had 12 kills, a block and an ace for the Knights, with Marley Uhlir adding 8 kills and 3 aces.  Piper Severson also had 3 aces for GFC.

Thompson’s next action will come in Saturday’s Volley in the Valley at Central Cass.
