The #7AAA Grand Rapids Thunderhawks escaped Pequot Lakes in four sets to stay undefeated on the season.

It wasn’t easy! Grand Rapids took set one 25-18 leading wire-to-wire. The rest of the match was highly competitive. Set two saw 13 ties and 4 lead changes as the Thunderhawks won 28-26. Pequot Lakes scored their win in set three 25-22 after eight ties and four lead changes, the final change when the Patriots went on a 6-0 run after a timeout down 19-17. Set four was as back and forth as the second with 14 ties and three lead changes. The match ended anticlimactic with a hitting violation against the Patriots giving Grand Rapids a 27-25 victory.

The Thunderhawks (9-0) were led by setter Annika Grose’s 46 assists, seven kills and 3 aces. Adrianne Venditto scored 21 kills.

Pequot Lakes (5-3) had great balance with their attacks with kills from Reese Laposky (9), June Ruud (8), Josie Taylor (7) and Alexis South (6). Alexa Pietig had 17 assists with 3 kills and 3 blocks. Presley Crawford had 12 assists.
