Harvey/Wells County vs Thompson

Thompson and Harvey-Wells County went to war in the first and third sets with the Hornets both times jumping out to early large leads of 3 in the 1st and 6 in the 3rd but in both occasions the Tommies showed resilience and took the lead back with massive runs. The 3rd set in particular was something to marvel at as Thompson held a 2-0 set advantage but found themselves down 6-0 to start. Shortly after, a 7 point run followed by another later in the set had them looking at a 24-19 lead. The lead in that 3rd wouldn’t last however as the Hornets took the set in extra serves 27-25 for their lone set victory of the match in a jaw-dropping back and forth affair.

The even numbered sets were a different story, in both cases the Tommies came back from a tight contest in the previous set to shake it off and dominate from the jump. Summer Pearson proved to be a weapon with 5 ace’s on the night 3 of which transpired at the opening of the 4th set. 25-10 and 25-12 victories in the 2nd and 4th sets closed the door for Thompson to come away with the 3-1 match victory.

Several key contributors helped the Tommies stave off their Hornet foes including Enbridge Energy player of the game Jocelyn Oster who registered 6 kills and 3 ace’s in the match. Andie Schwab also led the way for Thompson with 7 ace’s of her own. The 4th set showed some fight at the end as the match point came around at a 24-9 score but the Hornets would battle back with 3 straight before finally falling 25-12.
