Hatton-Northwood vs Hillsboro Central Valley

Hillsboro/Central Valley and Hatton/Northwood met in a ND Class B Region Two Volleyball matchup Monday. Despite committing eleven service errors, the Burros rarely trailed enroute to their second home victory of the season, this time in straight sets: 25-15, 25-18. 25-22. 

The Thunder held brief leads in each set, including a 2-1 start to the match. At that point, HCV went on an 8-1 run to lead 9-3, never relinquishing the lead enroute to the 25-15 first set victory. With the second set tied at 18, the Burros scored the final seven points of the set to win 25-18. HCV looked ready to wrap up the match, leading 20-15 in the third set, when the Thunder went on a 5-0 run to even the score at 20. The Burros scored five of the last seven points to close it out.

Senior Haley Smelden once again led the Burros with nine kills and five blocks. Freshman Isabel Padilla led the Thunder with four kills and two blocks.

Both teams have quick turnarounds with matches on Tuesday. The Burros host Kindred, while the Thunder host Griggs-Midkota.
