Pillager lead wire-to-wire in securing their first season sweep of Henning since the 2010-11 season on Parent’s night 51-42.
The Huskies scored five quick points and forced a Hornets timeout within the first minute of the game. Pillager pushed the lead to 11 at 17-6 before Henning started to flow on offense. Henning was able to make a push and cut the lead to four at the break 26-22.
The game stayed close for the first seven minutes of the second half. Trailing by one at 32-31, Henning had the ball but failed to take the lead. Pillager’s Alivia Brown drove the lane and scored two of her game-high 32 points to spark a 15-2 Pillager run that gave the Huskies a 14-point cushion at 47-33. The Huskies kept the Hornets away to win their fifth game of the year. Azli Pulak had 8 points, four steals and two assists to aid the Huskies’ win. Henning was led by Alivia Emter’s 10 points.
Pillager goes to 5-12, 3-7 in Park Region Conference play, while Henning drops to 1-13, 1-9.
