The Northern Cass Jaguars celebrated their Homecoming week with a touchdown in the final minute to defeat the Hillsboro/Central Valley Burros 6-0. Defenses controlled the game and didn’t allow either offense to find much success with each team only having one drive apiece that reached the red zone. The Burro drive came in the first quarter when a penalties took them out of prime position and ended up turning the ball over on downs at the eight-yard line. The Jaguars lone red zone drive happened on their final drive of the game. Jaguar Quarterback Hudson Rietschel evaded the pass rush, scrambled to his right and delivered a throw on the run to an open Brooks Crockett who brought the ball down to the one-yard line as the clock went under a minute remaining in the fourth quarter. On the next play Rietschel would run in for the go-ahead touchdown, but be stopped on the two-point attempt, for a 6-0 lead with :34 seconds remaining. The Burros returned the kick to midfield and were able to move the ball to the 22-yard line and call a timeout to stop the clock with :02 seconds remaining. The final play was a jump ball throw to the endzone that was swatted away by the Jaguars to seal their victory.

Northern Cass, now 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the region, will travel to face MayPort-C-G next week. Meanwhile the Burros, after falling to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in the region, will host Valley City next week.
