Recap

Fueled by the emotional boost of Senior Night and playing their final home game of the season, the Sargent County Bulldogs capitalized on four Hillsboro/Central Valley turnovers and built an early lead on their way to a 28-8 victory over the Burros.

The Bulldogs gained possession on just the second play of the game when they recovered an errant Burro snap. Sargent County quickly turned the short field into points, with Dawson Nogowski scoring on a touchdown run to give the Bulldogs an early 8-0 lead.

The Burros drove the field on their ensuing possession, but another errant snap on third down followed by a defensive sack on fourth down turned the ball back over to the Bulldogs. Sargent County scored on the very next play when Nogowski connected with Hans Hanson on a 45-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 14-0.

Hillsboro/Central Valley responded with a seven-minute scoring drive in the second quarter, cutting into the deficit when Ryan Billings scored on a one-yard touchdown run.

The Bulldogs got the ball back with under two minutes remaining in the first half and came through with another big play. A 27-yard screen pass on third down set up an 18-yard touchdown pass from Nogowski to Bentley Degenstein, giving Sargent County a 20-8 lead at halftime.

Neither team was able to score in the third quarter, but the Bulldogs once again started with a short field following a Burro turnover in the fourth. Nogowski scored his second rushing touchdown of the game to cap the scoring at 28-8.

With the win, Sargent County improves to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in Region 1 play. The Bulldogs will travel to MayPort-CG next Friday.

The Burros fall to 1-6 overall and 1-4 in Region 1. Hillsboro/Central Valley will host the Lisbon Broncos next Friday.
