The Thompson Tommies hosted the Hillsboro/Central Valley Burros in a ND Division A Region Two Girls Basketball contest. Both teams were coming in on a high note, with Thompson winning their last six and HCV their last three games. Only one winning streak would continue, as the Tommies toppled the Burros to extend their winning streak to seven straight, 57-29.
After a tight opening few minutes, the Tommies surged ahead on a 14-0 run, spanning the first and second quarters, enroute to a 30-15 halftime advantage. The Tommies continued to stretch the lead in the second half, eclipsing the 30-point threshold in the fourth quarter. The Tommie defense stifled the Burros, forcing nearly 30 HCV turnovers by the end of the game.
Addison Sage led the Tommies with 20 points while Kya Hurst and Claire Kolling also reached double figures with sixteen and eleven respectively. Paityn Olson led the Burros in the setback with eleven.
With the win, the Tommies improve to 16-4 on the season while HCV ends the regular season at 10-11. Thompson closes out the regular season tomorrow, hosting Lisbon, before both teams match up once again in the first round of the Division A Region Two Girls Basketball Tournament, starting Monday from Mayville State University.
