Kelliher/Northome vs. Badger/Greenbush-Middle River

Thief River Falls, MN — The Kelliher/Northome Mustangs narrowly beat the BGMR Gators on Saturday afternoon 77-73 to advance to the Section 8A Girls Basketball Semi-Finals.

In the first half, the lead was never more than 3 points between the two teams as it was a true back and forth battle between the Mustangs and the Gators. In the second half, the game stayed competitive. Despite Kelliher/Northome going up by 10 points in the late stages, the Gators never went away. At the 5:40 mark the Gators began a run of nine straight points and a 15-1 run to take a 73-68 lead with just two minutes to play. But in the final minutes the Gators on offense would go cold as the Mustangs would shutout the Gators 9-0 to take the lead and survive with a 77-73 win.

Kelliher/Northome is now 25-3 on the year and will play in the Section 8A Semifinals on Tuesday at 7:45 pm. For BGMR, they finish the season16-12 and graduate two seniors, Kenzie Dahl and Quinn Vacura.
