Brock Johnson rushed 15 times for 126 yards and a touchdown and Gabe Whipple threw 2 touchdown passes to Izaak Spelhaug as #1 ranked Kindred scored a 51-0 road victory over Northern Cass on Friday.
Kindred’s defense held the Jaguars to 24 yards of total offense and four first downs. The Vikings also opened the scoring with a safety after sacking quarterback Hudson Rietschel in the game’s first minute.
Kindred took advantage of a short punt in the first quarter to drive 23 yards for their first touchdown, when Whipple and Spelhaug connected on a 5 yard TD pass. The Vikings led 9-0 after one quarter.
The Vikings scored on all three second quarter possessions on a 4 yard run by Kylan Swenson, a 5 yard run by Brock Johnson and a 32 yard pass from Whipple to Spelhaug. Kindred led 29-0 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Kindred got touchdown runs from Myles Thielges and Tyron Johnson to go ahead 43-0 after three. And in the fourth quarter, Jackson Schlieman threw a 3 yard TD pass to Jeremy Knight to end the scoring with the Vikings winning 51-0.
For Kindred (7-0, 5-0 in Region 1), it was the Vikings’ fourth shutout in their last five games. Kindred plays at Thompson next week.
Northern Cass (3-4, 1-4) hosts Ellendale-Edgeley-Kulm next Friday.
