Lisbon at Hillsboro-Central Valley
Recap
The Lisbon Broncos’ defense controlled helped lead them to their first ever win over Hillsboro/Central Valley with a 28-14 road win. The Bronco defense forced the Burros into 3-and-outs on their first three drives. The Bronco offense responded with a Wyatt Olson 10-yard Touchdown run, an Olson to Jayden Bittner 28-yard Touchdown pass and a Mike Nelson 1-yard Touchdown run to lead 22-0 at halftime. After the break the Burros found momentum in forcing a turnover on downs and then driving 61-yards to score their first points on a Landon Olson 2-yard run. After a short punt by the Broncos the Burros then capped off a 30-yard scoring drive, again by Landon Olson from 2-yards out to make the score 22-14. Looking to closeout the game the Broncos’ Mike Nelson broke out for the longest play of the game, a 41-yard run that put them inside the 5-yard line. Two plays later Nelson would score from 2-yards out to extend the lead to 28-14. The Burros tried to drive for a score but the Bronco pass rush got the stop and Lisbon was able to kneel out the clock for the win. Lisbon had lost the previous six matchups between the programs before the victory. The Broncos improve to 2-0 and will host EEK (1-1) next week while the Burros, now 1-1, travel to face Kindred (2-0).
