The Mahnomen Waubun Thunderbirds opened the season with a road win over Benson 37-0.  The Thunderbirds used a mixture of grinding offense and some big plays to put point on the board, and the defense did their part holding Benson to just 27 yards of total offense.  Both teams played a clean game with each team only having 2 penalties a piece and no turnovers.  Mahnomen Waubun starts the season 1-0 while Benson is 0-1.
