BBB Mahnomen-Waubun at Clearbrook-Gonvick

Clearbrook, MN — The Mahnomen/Waubun Thunderbirds improved to 6-11 on the season after beating the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears 74-58.

The first half would see the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears get out to the early advantage as they knock down some early three pointers. And when the three point shot wasn’t falling for Clearbrook-Gonvick, the rebounds were bouncing their way as would get numerous second chance opportunities during the half. Mahnomen/Waubun would find their bearings after first few minutes, feeding Carter Clark on the offensive end who was being guarded heavily all night long by the Bears. At halftime Mahnomen/Waubun would hold a seven point 36-29 lead which ultimately was the result of a Thunderbirds offensive run.

In the second half, Mahnomen/Waubun would never trail holding firmly onto their lead but it wasn’t without some push back from Clearbrook-Gonvick. The Bears would hit six three pointers in the second half and were able to trim the deficit to less then five. But Mahnomen/Waubun was able to execute on the offensive end and thanks to the Bears finally cooling off from downtown, Mahnomen/Waubun would win the game 74-58.

Mahnomen/Waubun has now won three of their last four games and will face a big test on Saturday afternoon when they will play the Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Rebels as a part of a girls and boys basketball doubleheader.
