The Mahnomen Waubun Thunderbirds started the game hot scoring on the opening kickoff and would score 4 more times in the 1st quarter to lead 34-0 after the 1st quarter and would cruise the rest of the way enroute to a 49-2 victory over the Crookston Pirates.  Mahnomen Waubuns backups would take over to start the 2nd quarter giving the reserves quality time.  Crookston would struggle with penalties throughout the game falling to 0-2 while Mahnomen Waubun is now 2-0.
