Mahnomen/Waubun at East Grand Forks Sacred Heart

East Grand Forks, MN — The Sacred Heart Eagles defeated the Mahnomen/Waubun Thunderbirds 65-54 in boys basketball on Thursday night.

The Thunderbirds took an early 8-0 lead and was able to hold onto the advantage until Sacred Heart took their first lead 19-18 and would lead at halftime time 31-26. The second half had the same trend as the first. Back and forth, physical aggressive play and it would show on the scoreboard as the largest lead would only be a handful of points until late in the second half when Sacred Heart would go on an 11-2 run to close out the game and win 65-54.

With the win, Sacred Heart snaps their two game losing streaking improving to 7-5 on the season. The Eagles will host Stephen/Argyle on Monday. For Mahnomen/Waubun, Thursday night was their third loss in a row. The Thunderbirds will be at Win E Mac next Tuesday to take on the Patriots. 1480 AM/99.7 FM KKCQ will have live game coverage of the Thunderbirds and Patriots next week.
