The Fosston Greyhounds closed the game on a 12-0 run and defeated the Mahnomen/Waubun Thunderbirds 69-56 in Fosston. The Thunderbirds led by as many as 12 points in the first half but the Greyhounds trailed by only three at halftime 33-30. Brielle Duppong led Fosston with 27 points and 10 rebounds as the Greyhounds improve to 7-5 overall and 4-3 in the Pine to Prairie Conference. Miley Hove added 17 points and Hannah Fonder hit four 3 pointers and scored 15 points for Fosston. Peyton McArthur Gordon led Mahnomen/Waubun with 22 points and 8 rebounds as the Thunderbirds fall to 2-9 overall and 1-5 in the conference. Mahnomen/Waubun led 53-49 in the second half but the Greyhounds closed the game with a 20-3 run including the last 12 points. Kenley Syverson and Macey Jasken each scored 10 points for the Thunderbirds. Fosston turned the ball over 18 times while the Thunderbirds turned the ball over 17 times. The Greyhounds will return to action on Friday, January 9th when they travel to Bagley (1480 AM/99.7 FM). The Thunderbirds will play their next game on Thursday, January 8th when they travel to Moorhead to face Park Christian. Fosston won the “B” Squad game over Mahnomen/Waubun 29-21.
