FERTILE, MN – The Mahnomen-Waubun Thunderbirds (7-5) defeated the Fertile-Beltrami Falcons (4-5), 11-4, on Thursday.

Both teams traded runs in the first three innings, being tied at four runs each , and the score would hold through six innings. The Thunderbirds would ultimately capitalize late, scoring seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to secure the win.

Mahnomen-Waubun pitcher Dennis Ashley threw five innings, allowing four earned runs on seven hits and three walks, while striking out eight Falcon hitters. Owen Drinkwine threw two scoreless innings in relief of Ashley, striking out a pair of Falcons and picking up the win.
