May-Port CG vs Griggs-Midkota

The May-Port-C-G Patriots hosted the Griggs-Midkota Titans in ND Class B Girls Volleyball Thursday. Despite some good rallies from the Titans to stay in the match, the Patriots picked up the sweep: 25-16, 25-19. 26-24.
In the first set, both battled evenly with MPCG leading 9-8. At that point, the Patriots went on a 7-0 run to lead 16-8 enroute to the first set victory. The Titans were looking to flip the game as they carried a brief lead through the halfway point of the set. The Patriots evened the set at twelve and surged ahead, going on a 5-0 run to lead for good, picking up the second set victory. The Titans once again rallied well in the third. Despite an early 10-0 Patriot run to lead the set 10-1, the Titans stormed back, scoring 19 of the next 29 points to tie the set at 20. The Patriots went on a 3-0 run to lead 23-20, but the Titans once again evened the tally, scoring four of the next five points to tie the game at 24. MPCG would score the last two points of the set to seal the match victory.
MPCG junior, Kennedy O’Connor, led the Patriots with eight kills. Sophomore, Paetyn Strand, added seven kills in the win. Classmate, Kylie Kroeplin, also added four aces for the Patriots. Junior, Kelsey Johnson, led the Titans with seven kills. The Titans gave up ten service errors in the loss. The Patriots will look to continue their winning streak at Larimore on Tuesday. The Titans will try to snap their three-game losing skid at Nelson County on Monday.
