Northern Cass defeats May-Port CG in 5 set thriller

The Patriots and Jaguars turned in a classic after each team comfortably won a set. The 3rd set saw Northern Cass jump out to an 11-3 lead, but the Patriots rallied to recapture the lead at 18-17 and earning a chance at set point at 24-22. However, Northern Cass earned the next three points giving themselves a shot at set point at 25-24, but Paetyn Strand kill, an Abby Sand ace and a Jaguars hitting error gave the Patriots a 27-25 victory in set 3.

Both teams struggled to find separation on the scoreboard with no lead greater than 2 in the first 20 points before MPCG went on a 5-0 run to make it 15-10. Jaguars Outside Hitter Olivia Olson led the team back to 24-24, where Northern Cass surged ahead 26-24 to force a 5th set.

The Jaguars supporting cast came to play in the 5th as Marley Wilner and Carly Rider each provided big kills to propel Northern Cass to a 15-9 victory in the winner-take-all set.
