Maple River picked up their first win of the season in North Dakota Class B boys basketball with a 56-52 win over Medina-Pingree/Buchanan on Monday night.
Mark Thomas hit a three-pointer to give MPB a 51-50 lead, only to see Carter Baasch score seconds later in transition to give the Raiders the lead for good with 1:18 left in the fourth quarter.
Carter Baasch scored 19 points and Connor Dahl added 15 points and 6 rebounds for Maple River. The Raiders (1-1 overall) travel to May-Port CG on Saturday for their next contest.
Gage Magstadt had a game-high 24 points and 9 rebounds for the Thunder who dropped to 0-2 overall. MPB hosts Griggs-Midkota on Friday for their home-opener.
