East Grand Forks, MN — The Polk County West Thunder pitched their third consecutive shut on Friday night defeating the Menahga Braves 30-0.

There were seven turnovers total between the Thunder and the Braves including four in the first quarter. One of those turnovers was an interception by Thunder DB Will Zavoral that he took 30 yards for a touchdown to give Polk County West the first lead of the game 8-0. Menahga would struggle all night long on the offensive side of the ball. The PCW pass rush was constant all night making things difficult through the air and the defensive front for the Thunder was solid too making the Braves rushing attack virtually nonexistent. The second TD of the game for Polk County West was a 2-yard touchdown pass from Nick Satterlund to Will Zavoral late in the first half to make it 16-0 and that was the halftime score.

Polk County West would have a chance to take control of the game receiving the second half kickoff but Thunder QB Nick Satterlund would throw his second interception of the game setting up Menahga on the 28-yard line of PCW. The shaky offensive trend would continue in the second half for the Braves as they were unable to punch it in. The rest of the scoring would come in the fourth quarter via a 67 yard touchdown run by PCW Running Back Keane Melsa making it 24-0 and an 11 yard touchdown pass to Jace Motl to seal the game for the Polk County West Thunder 30-0.

Polk County West has now won three games in a row, all shutouts, and will play their final game of the regular season next Wednesday at Red Lake County. Menahga is now 1-6 and will host Mahnomen/Waubun next Wednesday (Gold 101.5 FM KRJM).
