Midway/Minto vs Thompson

The Thompson Tommies hosted the Midway/Minto Mustangs in a ND Class B Region 2 Volleyball contest Tuesday. The home team used runs early in each set to take command of the match, winning in straight sets: 25-11, 25-13, 25-18

After giving up the first point to open the match, the Tommies went on a 6-0 run to lead 6-1. Later in the set, with a 14-10 advantage, the Tommies rolled on a 10-0 run enroute to their 25-11 first set victory. In the second set, both teams were tied at four each when Thompson catapulted to the lead on an 11-1 run, leading 15-5 midway through and taking the second set, 25-13. The Tommies scored seven of the first ten points in the third set to take an early lead. The Mustangs hung around, but it was too little too late as Thompson never trailed in the final set.

Junior, Abby Olson, led the Tommies with nine kills while four other Tommies notched at least four. Classmate, Kloey Huebner, had a balanced attack with four kills, three aces, and three blocks. Midway/Minto senior, Maddy Korynta, led the Mustangs with six kills.

With their fourth straight win in tow, the Tommies travel to North Border on Thursday. Midway-Minto continues their Region Two road trip at Cavalier, also on Thursday.
