Milaca at Pequot Lakes

The season ended in dramatic fashion for the defending State AA Champion Pequot Lakes Patriots as #5-seed Milaca defeated the 4th-seeded Patriots in five sets.

The visiting Wolves jumped out to a big lead in the opening set and met little resistance in a 25-15 win.

In set two, Milaca never lead until 25-24 in taking a 2-0 match lead with a come-from-behind 27-25 win. Pequot Lakes lead 23-18 and had set point at 24-20 but could not close it out.

With their backs against the wall, Pequot Lakes battled back with a hard fought 25-20 win in set three and a dominating 25-11 win in set four. Blocking was the key for the Patriots along with several errors committed by the Wolves.

That set up the final frame, where Milaca found their magic again. The Wolves pounced on the Patriots for a 6-1 lead and were able to keep Pequot Lakes from making a big run, closing it out 15-12.

Milaca goes to the 6AA semifinals with a 20-8 record. Pequot Lakes finishes the year at 18-11 and graduates just one senior.
