A strong showing in the first half paced the Aitkin Gobblers to a 69-47 victory over the Mille Lacs Raiders Tuesday night from the Aitkin HS Gym.

After giving up the first points of the game at 2-0, Aitkin rattled off 19 straight points and lead much of the first half by double digits. Much of the Gobblers first half offense was guided by Ella Janzen’s 13 points, while the defense capitalized on 13 Raider turnovers.

Aitkin lead 32-14 at halftime before Mille Lacs started to crawl back into the game with Aiyanna Mitchell notching 14 of her 19 points points. The Raiders got a 26-point deficit down to 10 while pressuring Aitkin to 9 of their 19 turnovers in the games. Aitkin was able to pull away with Rae Nyberg talling 19 points in the second half and Janzen 13 more for the Gobblers 2nd consecutive victory.

Aitkin is now 3-2 with another home game as they welcome the Hinckley-Finlayson Jaguars Friday, which can be heard on KKIN-AM 930/FM 103.1, rjbroadcasting.com, and Yourliveevent.com. Mille Lacs falls to 2-3 and will host a holiday tournament starting Friday December 17th.
