Jill Thompson’s complete game, 14 strikeout performance kept the undefeated start to the season for the Mille Lacs Raiders, winning 9-1 over the Aitkin Gobblers Thursday.

The Raiders got up early with with 5 runs in the first two innings including a 3-run home run from Ellie Hubbell and Jenna Carlson’s RBI single. Mille Lacs lead 8-0 before Aitkin was able scored their lone run on a wild pitch.

Jill Thompson was to scatter 6 base runners over her 7 innings pitched while also giving up just 1 hit and 2 walks. Jenna Carlson paced the Raider bats going 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs, 2 runs, and a walk. Annah Ludwig scored 3 times and Ellie Hubbell finished with 4 RBIs.

Kendall Ratz took the loss in the circle for the Gobblers with 3 innings pitched, giving up 6 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks with 3 strikeouts. Megan Buchholz came in relief and walked one batter over 4 innings and allowed 3 runs. Kortney Lamke scored the only run for Aitkin, Emma Skaj and Sophie Snyder eached walked, and Ailie Kullhem collected a single.

Mille Lacs improves to 5-0 on the season and will face Pine City on the road Friday. Aitkin is now 1-1 and is scheduled to face Pequot Lakes for a doubleheader Friday, which will be broadcasted on WWWI-FM CASH 95.9 and www.rjbroadcasting.com.
