Fargo, ND (Fargodome) — The Fertile-Beltrami Falcons are the Section 6 9-Man Football Champions for the second year in a row after beating the Blackduck Drakes 46-14.

The first two possessions of the game were drastically different for both squads. Fertile-Beltrami scored two touchdowns, one from two yards out by Isaiah Wright and another from 3 yards by Caiden Swenby. For the Blackduck Drakes, their first two drives stalled out on turnover on downs inside the Fertile-Beltrami 30 and 25 yard lines. On their third series the Drakes had to get something going on offense so they dialed up a little trickery that was a halfback pass that went 58 yards for the score. On the Falcons ensuing possession, they would punt after having the football for only 1:21. The momentum was then on the Drakes side, as they put together a 2:23 drive capped off by a 28 yard Ridge Flatness rushing touchdown and a successful two point conversion to take the lead 14-12. But that would be their only lead of the afternoon. Fertile-Beltrami would score once more on an 18 yard rushing touchdown by Brayden Werpy to go up 20-14 at the half.

In the second half, Blackduck would turn it over on downs twice, punt once, and throw two interceptions, while Fertile-Beltrami scored a touchdown on four of their five possessions to win 46-14. The Falcons remain undefeated and will play the Section 5 9-Man Champion in the State Quarterfinal Round next Thursday November 10th at Grand Rapids.
