The Bottom third of Aitkin’s batting order did most of the damage for the #7AA Gobblers in their 13-3, 6-inning victory over Moose Lake/Willow River Tuesday night at Woock Field.

After Logan Orvedahl’s RBI Single in the 1st inning gave the Rebels a 1-0 lead, Aitkin were spotted a pair of runs off wild pitches and a 2-1 advantage through 3 innings. The Rebels tied the game 2-2 in the Top of the 4th off a fielding error from Aitkin pitcher Jake Anderson.

The trio of Cody Trotter, James Erickson, and Tanner Hills combined to score 9 of the 13 runs scored by Aitkin including 8 runs in the last 3 innings. The Gobblers would tally 4 runs in the 4th and 5 runs in the 5th before walking off the game in the 6th with two more runs.

Trotter scored 4 runs with a double, Erickson scored 3 runs with 2 walks, and Hills added an RBI dingle with two runs scored. Carson Kullhem drove in 4 runs, Landon Janzen and Gus Sanford both had RBI singles for the Gobblers. Jake Anderson would get the win after pitching 5 1/3 innings and gave up 2 runs off 4 hits and 4 walks with 5 strikeouts.

Orvedahl went 2-for-3 with an RBI and took the loss on the after pitching 3 innings and gave up 5 runs and gave up 1 hits and 5 walks. Sam Dewey, Layne Radzak, and Luke Dewey each score a run.

Aitkin has now won 7 straight and improved 14-2 on the season as they host Duluth Marshall and Proctor for a doubleheader on Wednesday. Moose Lake/Willow River falls to 8-9 as they take on Cook County on Wednesday.
