Another tough team opened the home schedule for the Aitkin Gobblers Boys Basketball and was spoiled for a 64-42 loss to the Mora Mustangs Thursday night.

After trailing early, Aitkin was able to crawl their way back to tie the game at 7-7. Both teams continued to trade point with the Gobblers foul trade giving the chance for Mora to pull ahead with a 26-17 lead at the halftime break.

The 2nd looked to the favor of the Mustangs as they solidified their lead with 10 players scoring. Aitkin’s foul trouble came back to haunt them coupled with missed shots in their second consecutive loss to open the season. The Gobblers also tallied 15 turnovers while shooting just 7-13 from the free throw line.

Aitkin sits at 0-2 and hits the road Friday night to face Moose Lake/Willow River. Mora is now 2-0 also will face Rush City on Tuesday at home.
