Clearbrook, MN — The Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears advance to the Section 6 9-Man Football Semifinals after their 44-24 win over the NCE/U-H Titans on Tuesday night.

Clearbrook-Gonvick jumped out to an early 16-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to two rushing touchdowns by Senior Quarterback Hassani Bruton from 55 and 11 yards. After touchdown number two, Clearbrook-Gonvick would send the ensuing kickoff to NCE/U-H and Titans returner Bryce Braseth took it back 85 yards for a touchdown cutting the deficit in half 16-8 with 3:16 left in the first quarter. From there it would be all Clearbrook-Gonvick. The Bears would score three more times before the end of the first half. Hassani Bruton threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Brady Hagman to make tit 24-8, Freshman Avery Ostenaa would run one in from 49 yards making it 30-8 and Braxton Bjerke would run another touchdown in from 30 yards making the halftime score 36-8 in favor of Clearbrook-Gonvick .

To begin the second half, the Bears took the opening possession and wasted over six minutes off the clock and Hassani Bruton punched in a 2-yard score to lead 44-8. The Titans would find two more touchdowns before the end of the game, a 12 yard rushing touchdown by Axel Kjono and a 27 yard touchdown pass from Ian Jacobson to Axel Kjono. The lead would be out of reach at that point in the game as Clearbrook-Gonvick won 44-24.

With the win Clearbrook-Gonvick improves to 3-6 overall and will play in the Section 6 9-Man Football Semifinals versus the Fosston Greyhounds on Saturday. Pregame show is set for 1:30 pm with kickoff scheduled for 2 pm on 1480 AM/99.7 FM KKCQ. NCE/U-H finishes their season 0-9 overall and will graduate just two seniors, Ian Jacobson and Tucker Hamlin-Jager.
