The Tommies are heading to the State Class B baseball championship for the sixth time in the last seven seasons, after defeating Central Cass 2-1 in the semifinals on Friday night.
Brayden Wolfgram escaped the first inning only giving up one run against Central Cass. The Squirrels the loaded the bases with no outs and Carter Maasjo brought in Logan Braaten with a sacrifice fly to make it 1-0 Central Cass. Wolfgram recorded a strikeout on Carter Vrchota and Eli Buhr to end the threat.
Brayden Mitchell had a perfect game going through 3-innings until Reece Berberich leadoff the fourth with a single. Three batters later William Welke drove in Berbercih to tie the game at 1 apiece.
Thompson loaded the bases in the bottom of the 7th inning and Wolfgram was hit by a pitch to bring in Jonathon Muhs from third.
Wolfgram gave up 1 run on 5 hits, 1 walk and 6 strikeouts.
Mitchell gave up 2 runs on 3 hits, 4 walks and 5 strikeouts.
Thompson plays in the championship game against LaMoure-Litchville/Marion at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
