New York Mills was too much for Pillager as the Eagles swept their Park Region meetings with a 70-30 victory. It’s the seventh straight win in the series for the Eagles, who outscored the Huskies 32-9 in the second half to pull away with the wide margin.
The Eagles started strong, while Pillager turned the ball over on their first three possessions. The Eagles jumped out big to a 26-6 lead after a 12-0 run. The Huskies bounced back, trimming the lead to 11 at 32-21 with just under three minutes to play in the first half.
However, New York Mills scored the final 6 points of the first half and proceeded to score the first 17 of the second half, holding Pillager scoreless for over seven minutes after the break. The Huskies offense struggled to score all over the floor as the Eagles soared to the win.
Ayla Olson led NYM with 22 points, six steals and three blocks. Gabi Vaden pitched in 18 with three assists and three steals. Alivia Brown led Pillager with 10.
The Huskies are now 6-14, 4-8 in Park Region play while New York Mills has won 10 straight overall, improving to 15-5, 9-2 in the PRC.
