The Fosston Greyhounds pulled out a close first set and went on to defeat Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal 3-0 (25-23,25-8 & 25-14) at the Fosston Gym. The Greyhounds led the first set 24-21 but the Titans would draw to within 24-23 before the Greyhounds secured set point. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the second set and went on to win it 25-8. The Titans held a 3-0 lead in the third set but the Greyhounds would take the lead good for good at 4-3 and went on to win 25-14. Ava Hayes had 9 kills for Fosston with Brielle Duppong pitching in with 7 kills and 6 service aces. Hatty Quam added 6 kills for Fosston as the Greyhounds improve to 8-12 overall and 3-4 in the Pine to Prairie Conference. Tess Anderson led NCE/U-H with 4 kills as the Titans fall to 3-19 overall and 0-7 in the conference. Both teams will return to action on Tuesday, October 7th as Fosston travels to Lake Park-Audubon to face the Raiders (1480-AM/99.7 FM). The Titans will head to Bagley to take on the Flyers (96.7 FM) on Tuesday. Fosston won the “B” Squad match 2-0 (25-14 & 25-23) and they also won the “C” Squad match 2-0 (25-15 & 25-16). It was “Dig Pink” night at the Fosston gym on Monday night. The Greyhounds were coming off a 1-3 finish at the Perham Tournament on Saturday while the Titans went 2-2 at the Mahnomen/Waubun Tournament on Saturday. Fosston has three regular season matches left while the Titans only have two regular season matches remaining on their schedule.
