BBB North Border 61, Northern Cass 59

North Border led Northern Cass by 19 points early in the fourth quarter Friday night, but the Jaguars rallied to make it a one point game late before falling to the Eagles 61-59 in the season opener for both teams.

Kade Schafer made a free throw with 27.1 seconds to play to put North Border ahead 60-56.  Then Northern Cass’s Hudson Rietschel hit a 3 to put the Jaguars within 1.  Schaefer then made 1 of 2 free throws with 10.9 seconds remaining to give the Eagles a 61-59 edge.  The Jaguars had a shot blocked as time expired, allowing North Border to get the victory.

Kaden Moore led North Border (1-0) with 19 points, with Schafer adding 17.  Both made 3 3-point baskets.

Brooks Crockett led Northern Cass (0-1) with 21 points and Myles Froehlich added 13.

Free throws: Northern Cass 8 of 13; North Border 4 of 10

Rebounds: Northern Cass 26 (5 offensive); North Border 27 (7 offensive)

Northern Cass won the JV game 42-40.  Northern Cass won the C squad game over Capstone 51-23.
