North Dakota Division B Boys Basketball State 5th Place – Sargent County vs Our Redeemer’s

The #5 Sargent County Bulldogs squared off against the #7 Our Redeemer’s Knights for 5th place at the ND Division B Boys Basketball State Tournament, Saturday. The Bulldogs and the Knights both battled well, but Sargent County’s seniors surged enroute to the 67-65 victory.
Both teams exchanged the lead multiple times throughout the game, with the Knights leading 34-32 at the half. Sargent County surged ahead in the 3rd quarter, thanks to a 14-2 run. That run turned a four-point deficit into an eight-point lead by the end of the quarter. The Knights would go on a late rally, cutting the lead to two with just over 35 seconds remaining, but they could get no closer. Kolten Kadoun buried three free-throws to ice the 5th place finish for the Bulldogs. Payten Lindbo knocked in a buzzer-beating three but it was too little too late for the Knights.
All five senior starters (Martinson, Wittich, Kadoun, Wehlander, and Hansen) reached double figures for the Bulldogs. Nolan Schmidt led the Knights with 21. Lindbo and Jace Weekley also reached double digits in a losing effort.
Sargent County finishes the season with a 21-7 record and a 5th place finish. Our Reedemer’s finishes in 6th with a record of 19-10.
